Assess the fissures
How many cracks, how deep, and whether any are inflamed. Deep or bleeding fissures are handled with extra care.

Remove the hard rim
The thick, dry callus around each crack is taken down with an e-file. This is the step creams can’t do.

The fissure itself is cleaned and cared for so it can start to close.

A protective barrier and intensive moisture go on, and you get a home routine to stop new splits.
Why heels crack — and why cream alone rarely fixes it
When skin on the heel gets thick and dry, it loses its stretch. Every step spreads the heel pad sideways, and the rigid callus splits instead of flexing. Open-back shoes, long hours standing, extra body weight and dry skin all add to it. In Michigan, winter is the worst season: cold air outside and dry, heated air inside pull moisture out of the skin.
Cream can soften the surface, but it cannot remove the hard rim that keeps the crack open. Once that rim is gone and the skin is sealed, the fissure has a chance to close — and the moisturizer you use at home finally works.
Keeping heels smooth through the winter
- Apply a urea heel balm (10–25%) at night and wear cotton socks over it.
- File gently on dry skin once a week to stop the rim rebuilding.
- Choose closed-back shoes when you can, and avoid walking barefoot on hard floors.
- Run a humidifier if your home air is very dry in winter.
See a doctor if a crack is red, hot, swollen or oozing, or if you have diabetes or poor circulation and a fissure is not healing. Deep infected fissures need medical care before cosmetic work.
Cracked Heel Care: common questions
Will one session fix my cracked heels?
You will usually see a big improvement after one session, with deep fissures smoothed and discomfort reduced. Very deep cracks may need two or three sessions, combined with a moisturizing routine at home.
Does it hurt?
No. Only the hard, dead skin around the cracks is removed. Most clients find walking more comfortable right away.
My heels bleed. Can you still help?
Bleeding cracks are handled very gently, and we will not work on a fissure that looks infected. If you have diabetes, please get your doctor’s clearance first.
Why does the price range from $70 to $150?
It depends on how deep and widespread the cracks are, which sets the time (30–60 minutes). You hear the exact price before we start.
